Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world shared condolences for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
