Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she no longer feels appropriate to speak out against the Trump presidency, worried it could exacerbate unhelpful debate and deepen rifts within the United States.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Says Lawrence

During a discussion, Lawrence commented, “When Trump was first in office, I felt like I was moving hastily without clear direction. But it’s become clear, over multiple voting cycles, Hollywood stars fail to influence whatsoever on who people vote for.”

Lawrence added, “What’s the point? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to worsen tensions tearing the country apart.”

Political Evolution

Lawrence has spoken candidly about supporting conservative and liberal candidates over the years. Brought up by a right-leaning family in Kentucky, she voted for the Republican nominee in 2008 before joining the Democratic party and explaining she realized during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was opposing her own rights as a female citizen.

In 2015, she commented that Donald Trump’s election would be “a catastrophic event” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. “The second term appears changed,” noted Lawrence regarding his leadership. “Because he said what he was going to do. We were aware of his actions for his first term. He was explicit. And voters made that decision.”

“There was concern for my son,” she explained, “imagining every worst-case scenario, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was already in therapy, but I started taking a medication called that medicine and I used it for 14 days and it was effective.”

Jennifer Lawrence also spoke of the empowering aspect of shooting revealing sequences in the project while she was some months pregnant and couldn’t work out.

“It’s refreshing,” she said, about having to cast off vanity. “Truly, I do have moments where I’m like, How exactly do I differ between my work and that profession? But it isn’t a major concern.”
