Person admits sexual crimes against young males at summer camp
A person who spiked treats with tranquilliser and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two boys both nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was concerning a young boy.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "over an extended period", and minors had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She stated Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in July 2025.
The legal representative continued: "This year his stepchild had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They decided to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said materials including baby oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were located, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant proceeded to play the "treat game" with six boys that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The legal representative said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so the family member notified the police once more.
She said the man then conducted the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
